During next few days houses of Arkhangelsk city will not become warmer

Taking into account present-day cold snap and technical and insulation characteristics of existing buildings, temperature will not get higher in the apartments of Arkhangelsk. The head of the Department of Housing and Communal Services and Energy of the Arkhangelsk Local Administration has told about it on January 23.

By words of Mr. Churnosov, practically all buildings erected in city were designed to stand temperature not lower than minus 31 degrees for 5 days. Last week the temperature exceeded minus 33 degrees. As a result the houses could be frozen through. Especially it could be seen in wooden houses. Accordingly, when temperature rises some time is required for warming up of a whole building before the apartments will become warmer.

Energy company has limited heat supply (the temperature of the energy carrier was reduced) of the city because of possible breakages of network during thermal expansion. Hence, consumption of electricity has increased because people were using additional electric heaters. As a result numerous safety fuses were burnt out.
