Direct investments in Russian economy have grown twice in 2005

The volume of direct foreign investments in Russian economy have increased twice in 2005, and came up to 26,1 billion dollars in comparison with 12,5 billion dollars in 2004. This data is indicated in the report of Conference of the United Nations on trade and development.

Russia became the largest addressee of foreign investments in Southeast Europe and the countries of CIS. Total direct foreign investments in these countries reached the level of almost 50 billion dollars last year; it is marked in the report.

Inflow of investments into region was promoted by the high prices for oil and natural gas. So, last year Chinese “China National Petroleum Corporation” has bought Kazakh “PetroKazakhstan” company for 4,2 billion dollars.

Global inflow of direct foreign investments has grown in 2005 for 29 % in comparison with 2004 and has made 897 billion dollars.

For the first time since 1977 Great Britain became the largest addressee of foreign investments (219 billion dollars), basically, due to amalgamation of Shell Transport and Trading Company Plc and Royal Dutch Petroleum Company. USA is on the second place - (106 billion dollars). China is on the third place - (for the first time since 1999 inflow of direct foreign investments in the Chinese economy practically has not grown, having made 60,3 billion dollars).

Inflow of direct foreign investments in 15 “elder” members of the European Community has increased the last year for 76 % - up to 408 billion dollars, and in 10 new - for 36 % up to record 38 billion dollars.

Inflow of direct foreign investments in developing countries has grown in 2005 for 13 % up to a record mark of 274 billion dollars.
