Foreign investments in economy of Karelia have increased in 4,4 times
 

For last half-year total amount of investments in economy of Karelia considering pay back of loans from foreign organizations, has made 197 million USA dollars.

In the first half-year of 2006 investments of 60 million dollars arrived to Karelia. It exceeds level of the same period of 2005 in 4,4 times. Direct investments make 33 % from total amount of arrived means. Basically it is shares of the capital and loans from foreign co-owners of the enterprises. The share of other investments makes 62 %, portfolio investments - 5 %.

The most part of foreign investments in January - June of this year was put in logging companies (56 %) and processing industry (28 %). Investments have arrived from 16 countries of the world. The largest investments are from Netherlands (46 % from total amount), Cyprus (17 %) and Finland (15 %).

The arrived investments were used for 94 %, basically, on purchase of machines, equipment, tools (47 % from total amount of the used investments), payment of works and services to the external agencies (27 %), payment of raw material and goods (12 %).
